What is a substation transformer? A substation transformer is a type of three-phase transformer engineered for integration into both large-scale transmission and smaller distribution power networks. These units are permanently installed on dedicated concrete pads, which are meticulously designed by power engineers during the initial project planning phase, for either indoor or outdoor environments.   Electrical connection is achieved via bushings, located either on the top or on the side of the transformer.
