FRP Pultruded Profiles for Practical Engineering Use   The material for FRP pultruded profiles is not complicated. Mainly two things. One is E glass fiber. This fiber acts as reinforcement like rebar in concrete. The other is unsaturated polyester resin. It works as the matrix binding the fibers together. These two materials go through a pultrusion machine where they get pulled soaked and heat cured finally becoming continuous straight profiles. Throughout this process there are no solvents no volatiles just a physical heat curing process. The finished profiles have a smooth surface and even density. You can think of it as a composite of fiber and resin. It is not metal not wood not plastic but something else entirely. The process itself is not mysterious but it is consistent.
