Components of a Four-Way Galvanized Pipe Fitting
A four-way pipe connector basically consists of a central body with four openings at right angles to each other. Internal channels connect these openings to allow fluid to flow in any direction.
Depending on the type of pipe connection, four-way fittings come in the following variations:
Threaded – They have external pipe threads on all four openings for connecting to threaded pipes and fittings. They are commonly found in Stainless steel pipe fittings and Galvanized pipe fittings; Grooved pipe fittings are generally used for fire fighting pipes.
Push-fit – They have openings that can be fitted onto the ends of pipes. They are used for connecting copper or plastic pipes.
Grooved – They have grooved ends that connect to pipes using mechanical couplings. Commonly used in household drainage systems.
