Pharmacological Action:Phloroglucinol injection is a smooth muscle antispasmodic agent that is neither an anticholinergic (e.g., atropine-like) nor a papaverine derivative. It selectively acts on smooth muscle without affecting skeletal or cardiac muscle. Importantly, it targets only spastic smooth muscle, exerting minimal effect on normal smooth muscle tone, thereby preserving normal urinary and gastrointestinal motility (i.e., it does not interfere with urination or flatus passage). Its action is confined to the digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems, with no impact on other organ systems.
Notably, phloroglucinol lacks anticholinergic side effects and does not cause hypotension, tachycardia, arrhythmias, or any adverse effects…
