Polysorbate 20 Liquid Emulsifier CAS NO 9005-64-5
Polysorbate 20, as a non-ionic surfactant, is made from sorbitol monostearate as the starting material, through ethoxylation reaction and access to about 20 moles of ethylene oxide. It is a yellow transparent liquid with slight odor and slightly bitter taste. Because the HLB value is up to 16.7, it is very suitable for preparing oil in water (O/W) lotion; In terms of solubility, it is well miscible with water, ethanol, and glycerol, but insoluble in mineral oil and vegetable oil. It also has excellent chemical stability in the pH range of 3-10. When properly sealed and stored in a dry and cool place, it is not easily oxidized or deteriorated, and can play a long-term stable role.
Functional Roles in Formulation
Polysorbide ester 20 is widely used in emulsion systems, solubilization systems, and dispersion systems of cosmetics. As an emulsifier, it can form a stable oil in water lotion with uniform particle distribution and maintain vi…
