Introduction
Ductile iron in a large furnace combines two requirements that are easy to meet separately and hard to meet together: the carbon source has to be clean enough not to disturb the magnesium, and dense enough to reach the bottom of a deep bath. Granules are clean but float; ordinary spheres sink but are not always specified for low sulphur and nitrogen.
What it is
A spherical graphitized carburizer specified for ductile iron: low-sulphur, low-nitrogen raw material, low-ash binder, pressed into dense spheres that pass through the slag and dissolve in the lower part of the bath.
Key specifications
- Form: pressed graphite spheres, size confirmed to your furnace
- Sulphur: low grade for ductile iron
- Nitrogen: controlled; figure per lot certificate
- Fixed carbon: high-carbon graphitized base
- Packing: 25 kg bags, 1,000 kg bulk bags
Where it fits
- Ductile iron produced in medium and large induction furnaces
- Heavy section castings where graphite shape is critical
